Vintage GE Oscillating 12in Desk Fan – 1930s

9 Apr

Vintage General Electric Oscillating 12″ Desk fan with aluminum blades. GE referred to this model as the “Quiet Blade” premium fan. This model was produced from 1932-34. It has 3 speeds, oscillates and is in good working condition. This fan is in all original condition and has not been restored. The aluminum blades are in great shape for its age and the base has nice patina. The only part that is not original is the power cord which had been replaced at some point. This fan is built extremely well and works great. Makes a great functional display piece. Can also be mounted to the wall.

$85. Just added to our Etsy shop.

Antique Metal Fan / Art Deco

3 Jun

Found another small art deco metal fan the other day. This one’s made by Kenmore. It’s currently a little grungy from sitting in an old building forever. Going to get cleaned up and rewired this week. Maybe some paint for a change and be available for sale soon.

1930s Brass Blade Fan For Sale

5 Apr

We have another cool brass blade fan for sale. Manufacturer on this one is Graybar. Pretty much the same style and design as the GE fans of this era. First Graybar fan I’ve seen. When we found this one, we didn’t even know what we had. Out of the 5 old fans I found recently, this is the only one we had left. I decided to finally give it a good cleaning and under the silver rattle can paint job, I realized this jewel was brass. So a few hours and a ton of elbow grease later, here’s where we are.

It’s got power and the motor hums, but the blades aren’t turning. As is, the price is $100. I’m going to take it apart and have a look at the brushes and motor and hopefully get it running. Now’s the time to get it cheap!

More Antique Metal Fan Pics

Did a little research on a couple of these. The smaller blue one and the large Westinghouse fan are 1950s era and all metal. The GE fan is much earlier, 1930s and appears to have brass blades which make it super desirable. We intended to just sell these as decorator pieces, but we may go ahead and do a restoration of a couple of these.
